This year in PreK, Arjun's class' Community Unit of study was a Laundromat! The class collectively voted on this particular community feature to research further and learn more about on a detailed level. The theme is applied to every area of their classroom curriculum (writing, phonics, math, etc.) for two months, and the study unit culminates with a transformation of the classroom into a Laundromat! The class voted to specifically create a Tie-Dye Laundromat!
When Krish was in PreK, his class' community study unit was a Flight Museum. Given how much Arjun loves laundry machines and laundromats, Daddy and I think he had a little something to do with suggesting the Laundromat idea and convincing his classmates to vote on this particular community feature. ;) He can be very charismatic and persuasive! Daddy and I have regular first-hand experience!
Arjun has just had an amazing start to a new school given that everyday his class has been discussing laundry machines! His teacher has also told us many anecdotes of how much he is enjoying class and this unit of study. Daddy and I were particularly excited to visit his classroom on the day of the Grand Opening of their Tie-Dye Laundromat! We learned so much from Arjun and his classmates and loved exploring the various features of their laundromat through all their hard work and projects over the past several weeks.
