Visiting Nani and Masis in Houston

Krish did so well in Houston!! Neil and I were so pleased. He slept well, napped well, went to bed on time and slept undisturbed at night! We were so happy that this trip opened the door to more travelling for our family.

Krish also had a blast in Houston, playing with Nani, Dada, Ba, his Masis, Pankaj Kaka, Mina Kaki, Halie Foi, and of course, Biscuit! It was so cute how he was crawling after Biscuit all the time. And as old as Biscuit is, Krish was in fact faster than him! I wish the video we took was small enough to post, but unfortunately it isn't.

Krish explored the whole house, stayed in Tanya Masi's room, and played the piano with Mama. He was also really happy to see all the Christmas decorations up at home - thanks to Nani and Tanya Masi, and he had so much fun playing with all the Christmas toys and tree.

Celebrating Daddy's and Dada's Birthdays!

While in Houston in November, we celebrated Daddy's and Dada's birthdays together at a Mexican restaurant in Clear Lake. Everyone was there! Dada, Ba, Nani, Pankaj Kaka, Mina Kaki, Halie Foi, Tanya Masi, Tricia Masi, Mama and Daddy. We were definitely missing Nana, Dada and Dadi though!

Krish had a great time listening to the mariachi band play "Que Sera Sera" for him, and he was totally fascinated with the Birthday Sombreros! It was a wonderful afternoon with family.

Happy Diwali!

Happy Diwali to Everyone! Ba and Dada came to visit this past weekend so that we could celebrate Diwali together and so that Krish could see what Diwali is all about. He was so excited to have his Ba and Dada over and to do the Diwali Pooja in his room. On Sunday, we had a Diwali Party with the family and everyone came over for lunch and games! Lila, Diya, and Krish all had a blast playing together! And of course, we all enjoyed lots of yummy mithai!

Getting Ready for Halloween

It's Krish's first Halloween and he is so excited!! He has been helping get ready for our annual Halloween Party in his own way, of course--by playing with the Halloween decorations box for hours! We also had a Halloween play date with the Sugar Babies, and Alexis came over to take costume pictures together. She and Krish are posing together as the cutest little strawberry and teddy bear on the couch. We also went to a pumpkin patch in Half Moon Bay and picked out the perfect pumpkin! More pictures of those to come!

Fashionable One

Krish is just chilling out with all the posh decor at Crate and Barrel while Mommy shops. Priceless look! Like his Daddy, he will most likely not be a shopper.

Sugar Babies Buddies!

Here is Krish with his Sugar Babies buddies Tristan and Jaiden. We get together every week to play. Sometimes we hang out at the pool and sometimes at each other's houses. The babies have so much fun playing with each other's toys but not with each other yet!

Playing Peek-a-Boo with Krish

Daddy discovered a new way to play peek-a-boo with Krish...under a towel! This was the first time we played peek-a-boo with him, and he absolutely loved it! He got such a thrill out of it. It was so sweet and cute!! I don't know who enjoyed it more: Krishy or his parents?

Daddy Trying to Make Krishy Laugh...

...but he is so aware of the camera taping him! Anytime we come close to him with the camera, he gets stage fright! This was taken right before Krish's bedtime when he was 6 months old.

Crawling Krish

Krish is now mobile and crawling all over the place! He can get from one side of the room to the other in a matter of seconds. And of course with his newfound mobility and curiosity, he is into everything! If we turn around for even one second, he is playing with something he shouldn't be touching. And he knows it because he always has a mischievous look on his face! Of course we are now in the process of child-proofing the house.

Standing in his Crib for the First Time

Well, it finally happened! Last week when I went into Krish's room after he woke up from a nap, guess what I found? That's right! Krish standing up in his crib for the first time! He used the crib bumpers and rails to pull himself up from his knees to a standing position. He was so excited and proud of himself! He couldn't stop grinning.

Of course now it's his favorite thing to do, and we've found ourselves with a baby who would rather play in his crib than sleep!

Krish's Playtime

During Krish's playtime, he is usually surrounded by all of his toys. He is so entertained by each and every one of them. From the plush toys, to the mobile, electronic and musical toys, he can just play forever! Here he is enjoying himself during one of his morning playtimes in the living room.

Celebrating Raksha Bandhan

Last month we celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Anu and Rajiv's house. After Anu tied rakhis on Neil and Vivek, Lila tied a rakhi from her and Diya on Krish. It was Krish and Diya's first Raksha Bandhan celebration! I guess they will experience the mithai part of it next year!

Krish Loves Bananas, Part II

Now Krish is eating whole bananas!! He skipped over spoon-fed, pureed ones and went right to the real deal! Here he is trying to finish the entire thing by himself. He sure loves his bananas! :)

Exersaucer Fun!

Krish loves spending time in his exersaucer. It is part of his routine to play in it after feedings for "upright time". He has such a blast playing with the various musical toys on the table. He usually doesn't want to get out; in fact, now that he's crawling, you can catch him crawling towards it trying to get in!

Football Sundays - Go Cowboys!!

Now that football season has started, what do you think our Sundays look like? Yep, you guessed it. Daddy and Krishy watching football ALL DAY long! We only wish the Cowboys were off to a better start. So far we're 0-2, but Krish hasn't given up on being their #1 Fan! Here he is last Sunday and the Sunday prior, rooting for his team with his Daddy. :)

A New York Wedding

Recently, the family got together in NY city for my cousin Neil's Wedding. The trip was Krish's first visit to New York, and it was nothing short of amazing! We danced in the Baraat, which started in Central Park and proceeded through Columbus Circle. The Wedding ceremony was beautiful, and the whole family had a blast celebrating and catching up with each other. Krish even got to put all his fancy wedding outfits to good use! In addition, we visited Rockefeller Plaza, Time Square and ate the famous Magnolia's cupcakes. :)

Krish Loves Bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!!

Now that we've started feeding him fruit, we've discovered that Krish loves bananas! He did okay with plums and apples, but he just can't get enough of those bananas! He can eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I somehow manage to feed him zucchini as well, but mainly our little monkey just loves his bananas!

Krishy Helping Mommy in the Kitchen

Krish loves to sit on the counters in the kitchen while I am in there cooking or cleaning. He loves to play with the different fruit and vegetables that are sitting in the mixing bowls, and he loves to play with the plastic serving spoons and spatulas. He just bangs on the counters with the spoons or puts them in his mouth. He is discovering so much right now! Here, Krish is playing with a plastic spatula and mixing bowl while I am making chocolate-chip pancakes for breakfast. He is such a great joy to have in the kitchen while cooking! Hopefully one day this will translate into help in the kitchen too...

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Last weekend we went to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk with Vivek Kaka and Krishna Kaki. It had been ages since Neil and I had gone to an amusement park, so we definitely had a blast! We even had yummy fair food like churros and ice cream. Krish hung out with his Krishna Kaki while Vivek Kaka, Neil and I rode on some of the rides. Of course we rode on my personal favorite -- the flying swings! It was the most fun we've had in quite some time. I imagine the next time we go, Krish will be able to start riding the kiddy rides!

Time for Solid Food!

Now that Krish is 6 months old, he has started eating solid foods. His first solid meal consisted of steamed and mashed carrots. Yummy!! He didn't care for the carrots too much, but that could be because it was his first attempt at solid food. Here he is very proud of himself for completing his meal of sweet potatoes. And below that he just finished trying out avocados! Of course most of it ends up all over him instead of in his mouth. Neil and I believe his favorite so far has been the sweet potatoes, but he currently isn't doing that bad with the spinach. :) After that, we're off to try out fruit! We can' wait...any suggestions?

Fun with Ba and Dada!

Just recently, Krish's Ba and Dada came to visit him from Dallas. He had a ball with them! He was so proud to show them his new room! They played and played with him in his new room, and Dada & Daddy also assembled his new swing and high chair. As usual, he knew these items were for him and watched with excited anticipation as his Daddy and Dada diligently put together his new toy and gear.
Now, he loves swinging in his swing daily and trying out new foods in his high chair!

Pool Time with Tanya Masi!

One of the first activities Krish enjoyed out in the Bay Area was swimming in the heated pool at our condo. Actually, he really seems indifferent to swimming. We can't tell if he enjoys it or could care less for it. Of course, we enjoy taking him so we interpret that he likes it! :) And you know it's very sunny out here, so Krish can't forget his sunglasses!

You have to check out our view too--it's gorgeous!

Krish Visits the Ocean at Half Moon Bay

On the first weekend after we arrived to California, we took a family trip to Half Moon Bay where we enjoyed a beach picnic and introduced Krish to the ocean. Neil carried Krish towards the water, and he was absolutely mesmerized by the giant waves tumbling onto the beach. He loved it! Half Moon Bay is known to be very windy, but we all really enjoyed relaxing on the beach, snacking on junk food, and playing cards with Krish.

First Time in his New Crib!

This actually happened about a month ago, but since I just figured out how to post a video of the right file size, I am just now being able to post this update. So, like his new room, Krish is very proud of his new crib. When we first showed it to him, fully assembled, he knew immediately that it was for him! He had so much fun playing in it and watching his mobile that day. We couldn't take enough pictures, but here is one we'd like to share.

Krish's New Room

Krish finally has his very own room now, and he is so proud of it! It is an ABC-123 Animal themed room where Krish loves to have friends come over to play with him and his toys. So far, his grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts and uncles have all come to visit him and play with him in his new room. He has been so excited to welcome all of his friends and visitors and will be so excited to see you too! His Mommy and Daddy love playing with him too and we add something new to the room almost every week! This week, we are decorating the door and hallway wall.

Off to Trader Joe's

For those of you who know me very well, you know I couldn't wait to be a regular shopper at Trader Joe's. Well, that dream has finally come true! Now that we're in California, grocery shopping at Trader Joe's is a once-a-week outing.

However, unlike my childhood visions, I am not doing these grocery errands alone. I now have Krish with me, and boy, is he a head-turner! Today, Krish sat upright in the grocery cart for the very first time and he loved it! He attracted so much attention too. Almost every person we walked by in the store stopped to talk to him and admire him. One sweet woman even bumped into us several times to play with him! It was sweet and amusing, to say the least. All in all, it was a delightful experience, and Krish seemed to be having a ball!

California Trips - Summer 2010

Here are a few of the places we visited when we arrived to California. Krish loved seeing the variety of marine life at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and enjoyed the nature walk at Muir Woods. 17-Mile Drive and Fisherman's Wharf were a bit chilly, but Napa Valley was beautiful, warm and sunny!

Hello California!

Our family just moved to the Bay Area--San Mateo to be exact--on July12, 2010. We definitely miss our Texas family and friends but are grateful that we are surrounded by many friends and family members here in California as well.

Since our move, we have enjoyed visiting many new places and exploring our new home of San Francisco. A few of the places we've been to are Monterey Bay, Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiradelli Square, Muir Woods, and Napa Valley.
