Maine Trip Part III: Kennebunkport with the Munshis!

On our third day in Maine, we visited a charming, little beach town called Kennebunkport.  It is the summer home of President George H.W. Bush and Barbra Bush, and coincidentally, the town was celebrating Barbara Bush's 90th birthday while we there!  Beach towns are our favorite spots to visit on vacation and remind us of our favorite beach town of all, Half Moon Bay.  This time we had twice the fun since Krishna Kaki, Keshav and Vidya drove up from Boston to join us!  Thankfully Boston and Maine are so close so we could get together with the Munshis easily.  And thank you to Krishna Kaki for making the hour-and-a-half drive out two days in a row by herself with the kids!

The kids definitely enjoy each other's company and had such a great time playing on the beach  together as usual.  Although the water was 48 degrees at this time of year, that didn't stop them from splashing in the waves in addition to running around the beach and playing in the sand.

We also went into the cute, little town for lunch, yummy ice cream and souvenirs.  While we were there, the kids got to enjoy a trolley ride around the town as well.  We all had an amazing time, and this truly is our favorite way to vacation!

Maine Trip Part II: Scarborough Beach and Schooner Boat Ride!

The next morning, we visited a peaceful park in Portland that had a Storybook Walk Krish enjoyed reading and acting out.  After lunch, Arjun napped in the car while Krish and I explored a quiet beach on Maine's southeast coastline called Scarborough Beach State Park.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a wonderful Schooner boat tour in Casco Bay with Shaulnie and Suraj!  We had such a great time!  Thank you to Shaulnie and Suraj for hosting and showing us such an amazing time in Maine!

Maine Trip Part I: Reuniting with Keshav and Vidya in Andover, MA and visiting Shaulnie Auntie in Maine!

Earlier this month we took our first trip of the summer to Boston and Maine!  We went to visit my childhood friend, Shaulnie, and her husband, Suraj, in Maine before they move San Francisco at the end of this month.  They have been living there for just a year for Suraj's GI Fellowship, and we thought it would be a great opportunity to visit them and see a new state all at the same time!

Krish was excited about the trip after reading a book about Maine he picked up from the library, and Arjun was ecstatic to ride on an airplane again since our Muscat trip!  Unfortunately we didn't have a window seat on a full flight, but Arjun, the charmer, quickly befriended the young lady sitting next to us and came up with the idea to call her "Teacher" throughout the whole flight!

The boys were so excited to board the plane!

This little man loves traveling!

To get to Portland, Maine, we flew into Boston first and got a chance to see the Munshi family again!  Krishna Kaki had a great idea to meet halfway up to Portland at this beautiful, picturesque farm in Andover, MA called Smolak Farms.  The boys were thrilled to reunite with their cousins Keshav and Vidya, and all the kids had so much fun feeding the deer, playing on the play structures, eating delicious farm stand ice cream (with flavors such as Sweet & Salty Pretzel, S'mores, and Coffee Oreo), visiting with the geese, taking pictures on the giant tractor, and watching bees make honey!

Cute cousins so happy to see each other!

Sweet Vidya!

Arjun loved the tractor, of course, and inspired a cute

After the farm, we ate pizza with the Munshis and then headed up to Portland to meet Shaulnie and Suraj at the Portland ArtWalk.  The kids were entertained by lobster puppets while we saw some interesting art displays and performances.  We ended the night with a lovely dinner at OTTO Pizza!
